Field Trips
Whether you’re planning an educational outing for a school group or a team-building day for your organization, Fox’s High Rock Farm offers a hands-on experience your group will remember. Participants of all ages can meet our friendly farm animals, petting goats, feeding alpacas, and learning about their care, then head to our gem mining sluice to unearth real gemstones, fossils, and even shark teeth.

A $150 deposit reserves your date and is applied in full toward your final cost. A $150 minimum applies to all field trips and group visits.
Important: Field trips are available by reservation and are not available between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Please plan accordingly when selecting your preferred date.

Yes. A $150 deposit is required to reserve your field trip date. The deposit is applied in full toward the final cost of your visit and is not an additional fee. Your field trip is not considered reserved until your date has been confirmed by Fox's High Rock Farm and the deposit has been received.
Yes. There is a $150 minimum for all scheduled field trips and group visits. If your group's total is less than $150, the $150 minimum applies. If your total is more than $150, your deposit is deducted from your final balance. For example, if your final group total is $225, your $150 deposit is applied and your remaining balance is $75.
A petting zoo visit takes up to 2 hours. Petting zoo plus gem mining takes up to 2½ hours. Gem mining only will depend on your group size. Larger groups may require additional time, and we will work with you when confirming your field trip to create a schedule that works well for your group.
We want everyone, including our animals, to have an enjoyable experience. To avoid overcrowding in the animal areas, larger groups are divided into smaller groups and rotate through activities. Depending on your visit, rotations may include time with the animals, gem mining, lunch or snack time, and our grassy play area.
Yes. Groups are welcome to bring a packed lunch or snack and use our covered picnic pavilion at no additional charge. Lunch and snack time is included as part of your scheduled visit time.
A final guest count is requested 5 days before your scheduled visit. This helps us plan staffing, group rotations and prepare the correct number of gem mining bags when applicable. Please let us know as soon as possible if your count changes significantly after that time.
Your visit includes animal feed and hands-on interaction with a variety of animals, time inside our animal areas, gem mining with a 3 lb. bag of mining rough if selected, complimentary use of our covered picnic pavilion for lunch or snacks, use of our grassy play area for games or activities (activities are not led by farm staff), access to our gift shop, and group rotations coordinated as needed to provide a better experience for our guests and animals.
Cancellations made 14 or more days before your scheduled visit may receive a refund of the $150 deposit or transfer the deposit to another available date. Cancellations made less than 14 days before your visit are nonrefundable, however your deposit may be transferred one time to another available field trip date. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before your visit, as well as no-shows, will forfeit the $150 deposit and a new deposit will be required to schedule another visit. If Fox's High Rock Farm must cancel your visit due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control, you may transfer your full deposit to another available date or receive a refund. We know unexpected situations can happen and will always do our best to work with your group when possible.
Field trips and group visits are hosted April through May and September through October. We are not able to host field trips between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
